Climate

The city typically has a tropical humid climate, characterized by rainy summers and dry winters. In summer, the maximum temperature is about 30o C, with a monthly rain fall of more than 200 mm and a relative air humidity rate of about 80%. In winter, the average minimum temperature is about 13o C, with a mean rainfall between 20 and 30 mm and relative air humidity of approximately 60%.

    History

    Ribeirão Preto was founded in 1856. The city covers a total area of 651 Km2, with 274.08 Km2 of urban and 376.92 Km2 of rural area. Today, there are about 649 thousand inhabitants.

    The health services network is considered one of the most important and developed in the country, including 20 hospitals and 35 health services.

    The education, with a well-developed municipal network, reaches high standards in Ribeirão Preto, with a wide range of options in higher education programs offered at USP, UNAERP, Barão de Mauá, UNIP, Moura Lacerda, COC, Bandeirantes, and specific graduate programs like FAAP, besides vocational schools like SESI and SENAI, Senac and SESC.
